ATOS Breakbulk project delivery in Henderson Port WA
The total consignment was 5 Crates of cutting machinery at nearly 70 Tonne and 420 cubic metres.
Given the size of the shipment our project team had to liaise many weeks in advance with the port, crane operators and transport to ensure smooth pick up of the crates. As we were collecting under hook of the vessel we had a very limited time frame with a lot of moving parts involved.
Our team organized three flatbed semi-trucks, including one with an extendable trailer, and secured Oversized Road Permits for WA. For unloading, we scheduled two 25-ton Franna cranes.
On the day or arrival into port, the pilot vehicle and trucks arrived for underhook loading, but two crates were tightly pressed together, preventing the vessel’s cranes from lifting them. A 14-ton forklift failed to separate the crates, and sourcing a second forklift with enough weight capacity proved difficult however our fantastic team at ATOS managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat.
After successfully separating the crates we loaded the crates onto the trailers. The trucks departed at noon and arrived at the client’s site, where the crates were unloaded by our Franna cranes.
Despite challenges, proactive planning by our team led to the successful delivery of five oversized crates! All in a days work here at Across the Ocean Shipping!
